Spoiled for choice

At least I should have been, over the past week. Spoiled for choice of topics to write about. And yet I wrote nothing.

Without getting too mushy or delving into too many ultimately irrelevant details, this is going to happen every now and then. It's part of the reason I'd really like to add a second author to the blog, so that if I don't feel up to writing for 3 or 4 days, TNS isn't completely silent in that time. That, and another perspective would be nice.

So yeah, sorry. If it's not already clear, I tend to look at writing here in chunks of one week. One week is either the interval between national polls in college season (both men's and women's), or it's the length of a major beach event in the summertime. Either way, a handy way of organising time. This week should be busier here than last week.

A completely quickie 'recap' of the happenings over the past week….big news in the college men's game as the NCAA tournament expands for 2014 (Vinnie over at Off the Block tells you everything you need to know)….the beach volleyball dream team of Walsh and Ross are off to a rollicking start, winning gold in São Paulo and Xiamen to cap off the FIVB season (which I'll address in greater detail soon)….Missouri remain undefeated, and for as soft as their schedule's been, it bears pointing out that they haven't even played a five-set match yet — they've brought it every night….the Hawaii Wahine may have lost out on hosting in the NCAA tournament with back-to-back conference losses on the mainland….and a few other interesting results in the college game that I'll address in the power rankings post.

So here's to getting back into the 'swing' of things, pun intended. Appreciate your bearing with me as I was out last week.
