In the end, some controversial coaching decisions by Raheem Morris, including TWO Onside Kick attempts that failed and resulted in Packers Touchdowns, and a 2 Point conversion attempt that would have tied the game at 21-21, but was dropped by a wide open Kellen Winslow Jr who was thrown behind a little. Still, the team fought Valiantly, as expected and predicted here on Bucstop.com.
You almost knew from the beginning that this would be different than expected, when the Bucs opening possession got into Packers side of the 50, and with the punt had them pinned back in their own territory. The Bucs stopped them on downs, and had a blocked punt all but written into the scorecard, except the Bucs did not wrap up the tackle of the punter, and he got a first down. The Packers would go on to score the first two touchdowns of the game, but it took them well into the start of the second quarter.
The Bucs did not give up and roll over, especially LeGarrette Blount, who had the best offensive play of the year, when he broke 6 Green Bay Packer tacklers for a 55 yard touchdown.
The Bucs were able to stop Green Bay several times, in fact most of the game the Bucs were within 10 points give or take. But mistakes killed the Bucs, and they added up over the course of the game.
Josh Freeman throws a pick at the end of the first half when Mike Williams fails to come back for the ball.
The Bucs after bringing to 14-10 Green Bay try an onsides kick, up the middle but it doesn’t go 10 yards even though a review was needed. Green Bay scored a TD.
The Bucs missed out on a TD when Kellen Winslow, who had a 100 yard game for the first time in years, made the first of two key mistakes in the game. He pushed off on 3rd and 2 from the Packer 3 yard line. Bucs had to make a FG to go down 13-21.
Then after Mike Williams who recovered to have a good game, caught a TD, Kellen Winslow DROPPED a two pt conversion when he was wide open.
Every time you thought the Bucs were sure to finally lose, they made something happen. Arrelious Benn makes a huge catch to set up another TD, then after the TD, head coach Raheem Morris does the unthinkable…calls another onside kick. This time the Bucs execute it to perfection, well, almost. They failed to cover it. The Packers scored a TD there too.
