FIVB Sweet Dreams

I travel the world and the seven seas, everybody’s looking for something.”  From the song “Sweet Dreams” by the Eurythmics.  And 16 teams are indeed “movin on” and “looking for something” in the FIVB World Championship tournament in Poland.  “THIS IS VOLLEYBALL!”

The first round (Pools A, B, C, and D) of the World Championships is over and 16 teams remain standing.  Here are the final results from round one.

On the NCAA front , the Big 10/Pac 12 Challenge (or Pac12/Big 10 Challenge) also provided great Volleyball this weekend.  The Pac 12 definitely got the better of the challenge with a 3 -1 overall record against the Big 10, as second-ranked Stanford upended top-ranked Penn State while unranked UCLA dominated ninth-ranked Illinois which also lost a 3 – 2 heartbreaker to Stanford. Results are shown below.
