Six games left in the season and the Bucs really could use a 6 game winning streak, or at the very least, a 5-1 one will do. So what are the odds? Can the Bucs do it, have they ever done it before? The answer is a simple YES- They have, and yes, they can. Doesnt mean they will, but it can be done, and we will go over all the Bucs previous attemps- Successful or not.
1982 and the Bucs start out 0-2 before the strike begins. Then when the strike ends, the Bucs lose thier 3rd game of the year, all close losses mind you, but at 0-3 face an uphill struggle because only 9 games will be played that year. Tampa Bay NEEDS to go no worse than 4-1 down the stretch, and in fact does so. With an Monday Night Football game vs Miami first up, the Bucs win every game except a snow covered one at NY Jets to go 4-1 and finish the season 5-4 and make the playoffs.
1998-2001: In each of these years under Tony Dungy, the Bucs started 3-4 and were forced to go on a major win streak to make the playoffs. Every year except 1998 the Bucs did it, with an 8-8 record in 98.
1999- The Bucs were 3-4, and won 6 games in a row, the current franchise record winning streak. The Bucs finished 11-5.
2000- Bucs started 4-0, lost 4 in a row to sink till 3-4, won 7 of 8 games, winning the first 3 then 4 straight after a simple Loss to the Bears.
2001 A 3-4 record was corrected with a 3 game win streak thats part of a 5 out of 6 package, got the Bucs a playoff wild card spot.
Twice the Bucs started out 5-0 at the beginning of the year: 1979 and 1997- The Bucs also started out 4-0 in 2005
