FINALLY!
I’m sure you’ve said it at some point over the last three weeks. That’s how long its been since Mike Williams, the 2011 version of Williams, has been playing like the 2010 version of himself.
It started against Green Bay when #19 caught 7 balls for for 83 yards and a Touchdown. He would catch another TD the next week against the Titans with his 6 catches for 84 yards. This Sunday, with Josh Johnson throwing the ball, Mike Williams had a season best 93 yards receiving on 5 caught balls.
Williams was the star receiver last year, and was a lot of people’s choice for second WR on fantasy teams. Those team’s owners were very disapointed because Williams has struggled all season long, but he is not the only Buccaneer who started the season out cold.
LeGarrette Blount went 6 quarters into the season looking like he was going to be a one hit wonder, but then he let loose at Minnesota. Blount has had a few 100 yard games, two actually in a row before this week when he was taken out of the game plan, either by the Panthers or Bucs coaching.
Josh Freeman has struggled all season long, but even he has had some pretty impressive moments this year. Unlike Bucs teams of the past, these Bucs rely on their offense to take over a game, not the defense like the franchise has done for the past couple decades.
With the Bucs defense doing its best 1986 impersonation, Mike Williams couldn’t pick a better time to get back to 2010 form.
