The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be hoping that Detroit beats Green Bay at 1PM Sunday so Atlanta will rest it’s starters and the Bucs can get a cheap win to end the season and perhaps save the job of Raheem Morris. Don’t count on it.
Atlanta was embarrassed by the New Orleans Saints Monday night 45-16, and the Falcons are actually quite upset over the Saints running up the score only to get Drew Brees his record (passing Dan Marino for most yards in a season). While there is merit to that, the Falcons were not impressed, and are not in the mood to sit down and let Tampa Bay be a winner Sunday.
Falcons Head Coach Mike Smith has said he will NOT rest his starters or coach differently. At stake for the Falcons is the 5th or 6th seed depending on what happens in the Detroit/Green Bay game.
For Tampa Bay, at stake is a draft position.
