Of all the news yesterday, the one I perceived to be the best of all is that the Glazers, the owners that fans have accused of being cheap, unconcerned, uncaring. Deaf.
It appears the Glazers are doing something few people gave them credit for doing: Listening to the fans.
The Bucs fired Raheem Morris 19 hours after getting embarrased for the last time. They waited 3 weeks to fire Jon Gruden. They waited two days to fire Tony Dungy. Fans were not calling for those coaches heads though as much as they were for Morris. Fair or not, the Bucs did it.
What else have they listened to?
The Glazers have let the NFL know they are NOT interested in going back to London any time soon. They realize the fans are upset over it, and theyve listened. Reports are that the Glazers stood to make millions by going for the third time: they are turning that money down.
The Glazers sounded open to free agency, and it seems they’ve understood the mistakes they made by going too young. But the Glazers are going to have to do more than just hold a press conference. They are going to have to do something about it in March, when Free Agency starts.
In as much as they are listening to the fans when they need to, they will be stubborn where it too is nessassary. Hiring a new Head Coach. The Glazers refuse to hire a coach just to appease the fans and sell tickets. They have said it point blank, the goal is to hire a coach to win games, because that is what puts fans in the seats.
Time will tell if I am correct, but unless the Glazers have software blocking sites like the Tampa Bay Times, TBO.com, JoeBucsfan.com and Pewter Report, the Glazers have read your comments, and they’ve gotten the message.
