Tampa Bay is looking for new coaches, a Head Coach and a whole staff to replace the whole staff that was told CYA two weeks ago. What will a new Head Coach and his staff find when they get here?
A GREAT HOUSE- One Buc Place isnt called One Bucs Palace by some without reason, the place is gorgeous. It is top of the line everything, from the offices, the meeting rooms, real wood everywhere you turn, One Buc is simply the best facility to run a football operation there is, and if there is better, its not by much.
A GREAT BACK YARD TO PLAY- Raymond James Stadium is a top flight stadium with attractive amenities throughout. The Club level is something every Bucs fan should try out at least once by purchasing a club seat on Stub Hub. It’s really a case of “Oh this is how the other side lives” when you do it! From the beads throwing out of the Pirate ship, to the music, the top most reckognizable cheerleaders, the Ray Jay experience is awesome, and its only going to get better as more people return to the game over time. Even at 45,000 attendance, the Stadium can get very loud when fans are given a reason to.
LESS DOUGH EATEN UP BY UNCLE SAMS FRIENDS- With No state sales tax, all three of the Florida NFL Teams are attractive landing spots. While this is the last point on my list, it’s not for many who look into where to take a coaching gig at. If your a head coach and you make 5 million dollars annually, you could potentially put 350,000 to 400,000 dollars in your bank instead of listed on the deduction sheet.
LINE DANCING- We all know the Bucs are the youngest team in football, by far, especially at the key positions. But not every area of the Bucs is so; The Offensive Line is a veteran group that has been playing together for the most part for 3 + years. Davin Joseph, who is going to the Pro Bowl, and Jeremy Trueblood, got the starting nod during their rookie 2006 seasons. Thats five years for those guys, playing side by side with each other. Center Jeff Faine was brought in by former HC Jon Gruden and has anchored that spot since 2008, same year Left Guard Jeremy Zuttah was drafted by the Bucs, and in fact, many feel Zuttah will be the one to take over for Faine at Starting Center given Faine’s propensity for going out injured each year. Donald Penn took over early in 2007 and has remained there ever since, entrenched at left tackle. Penn, Joseph and Trueblood have all gotten big contracts to re-up, so they are not going anywhere. In fact, only the left Guard spot is a position that has to be addressed.
KICK, AND A ONE, AND A TWO AND KICK- Without a doubt, the Bucs two most consistant players were their kickers. Connor Barth finished with the BEST FG kicking season in Tampa Bay history. Better than Jeff Christie, Martin Gramatica, all of them. Barth missed only two FGs this year, both were long attempts that barely missed too. 26 of 28, and 13 of 14 in the 40-49 yard range is simply amazing and spectacular.
The only real Free Agent the Bucs got this year, was a Punter, and that caused a stir. Well Michael Koenen had a fantastic year as kickoff specialist puntin the ball 67 times for a 45.1 average with 3 touchbacks and dropping 24 inside the 20 yard line. As a punter and kicker, he allowed Barth to concentrate only on Field Goals. Kicking game is set for Bucs for the forseeable future.
There may be issues with youth, WR, RB, etc, but a potential Head Coach does have something to hang his hat on here in Tampa Bay.
