There you have it; in Black and White! Mark Dominik, General Manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has said so in front of the press in those exact words; “We’re going to do it in free agency, I dont want people to be worried we’re not going to spend in free agency.”
Look, you cant blame Dominik, Raheem Morris, the Glazers, and heck even us the fans, for getting caught up in a 10-6 season based on youth. The problem was we didnt see the contributions Barrett Ruud made, or Cadillac Williams, in the lockerroom. Their veteran presense helped the young Bucs. But instead, the Bucs got even younger, and for a start it worked.
Beating Atlanta and New Orleans at home, the Bucs were 4-2 and tied for first place with a 2-0 divisional mark. But then something happened, and Morris and Company tried to correct it, but playing the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau is not an ideal place to get a “W”. Then it all fell apart again.
Hindsight has been, and always will be, perfect 20-20 vision. Thats an old saying, and its never rung truer than today. Looking back the Glazers, and Dominik, were wrong to go so young. They wont make that mistake again.
But actions speak louder than words. So far, the Glazers have listened to what the Bucs fans have been asking for.
Raheem Had to go, he was gone within 24 hours.
NO more London trips. The Bucs let the Rams be the team that goes for the next three years.
Hire a young charismatic coach, they get Greg Schiano, and went after Chip Kelly.
and finally, spend money in Free Agency.
We wil see.
Now I hope they dont go too far in the other direction; you dont want to be the Philadelphia Eagles, that didnt work either. Bring in one, two, or three top tier free agents at various positions. Linebacker, Wide Receiver for starters. Then augment each area with a veteran player; Running back, QB for Josh to talk to (I was against this, but have changed my mind, like with other things), probably two new guys in the secondary, a Defensive lineman or two for depth and locker room.
There is a lot to choose from, but more importantly than building the Bucs, this will bring back the Bucs faithful into a family again. It will restore the Glazers image among Bucs fans who matter.
