In 2010, WR Mike Williams was probably first round talent, but his situation with the college football team caused him to drop in status. The Bucs got a steal picking him up in the 4th round.
Last year, the dropper in the draft was Defensive End Da’Quan Bowers, who caused everyone to pass on him due to ever increasing concern over his knee operation. The Bucs snagged him with their 2nd round pick.
Could 2012 prove more of the same? ‘Dre Kirkpatrick is a top cornerback out of Alabama, comparable to Morris Claiborne of LSU in a lot of people’s draft board. But ‘Dre’s Jan 17th arrest for marijuana possession may cost him his first round status, and wouldnt that be just like the Bucs under Mark Dominik to get Kirkpatrick with the Bucs top second round pick!?!
It may be this type of thinking that could propell the Bucs to take running back Trent Richardson who very easilly could be the next Adrian Peterson with his amazing size, burst, and incredible power.
Or Justin Blackmon, WR Oklahoma State who is being compared to Calvin Johnson and Andre Johnson.
Either way, the Bucs have a for sure shot at getting an impact player with their top draft pick.
