The Video Vault is being rebuilt slowly but surely, I'm starting with the 1977 season, I have over 600 Bucs games on DVD. Each DVD is made up of a VIDEO_TS folder, and software can rip this folder off the DVD. On Three 2TB hard drives are all of the Bucs games backed up with VIDEO_TS folders that can be burned to blank DVDs which would represent an exact copy of the game itself.
But only a DVD playing software can play a VIDEO_TS folder, so these folders need to be converted to Video files like Quicktime .mov or itunes friendly files (.m4v, mp4) that can be played by a portable video player. All of these files are being converted to a 4TB NAS server where I will be able to access every Bucs game on an iphone or ipad.
Also in these formats, clips can be taken and put on the internet for all to enjoy, and thus the rebirth of the Bucstop.com Video vault!!
1977 Week 1 Bucs at Philadelphia Eagles
The 1976 season does not exist on any format. The tapes are lost, mostly because CBS saved tapes from 1977 forward. NBC did not save videos for many years to come, even the 1984 Bucs Jets game is gone because it was on NBC, just like the 1979 KC Bucs game. Different stories surround the circumstances, whether the tapes were thrown out, reused, whatever.
But 1977 is where the Bucs videos begin and week 1 was the opener at PHiladelphia, where the Eagles under coach Dick Vermiel got new QB Ron Jaworski and Tailback Wilber Montgomery! Listen to the lineup broadcast, and check out the lineups of the two teams!
The Vet, The Bucs, the Polish rifle, all the spledor of TV in 1977, dont miss it!
