Joe Bucs Fan is the first to bring up the questions of probably new OC Jeff Tedford and I applaud which ever Joe did so.
I'm not concerned; this is not a 32 year old ego maniac eager to prove to the NFL he can live amongst the big boys else he would have done so long ago don't you think?
No this is a grown man; a football man who has had pigskin in his mind and heart for the better part of 3 and a half decades. Tedford was playing football when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were going from Worst to First in 1979 and behind Doug Williams and led by John McKay winning over the hearts of fans in our Tampa Bay area for years to come.
He has played Football at Fresno State and Canada; He has coached in both venues in the 90's and 2000's too. It is doubtful Tedford would be the type of guy to stick with something that doesnt work until it works. And neither will he quit something that is churning out the kind of results that end up in a great big W in the end.
The list of Quarterbacks that Tedford has coached into the NFL is impressive and at the same time scary. When you see names like Aaron Rogers mixed in with Akili Smith your left with more questions than answers. Thats when you realize that both at least MADE IT to the NFL.
Word is his offense is so complicated its books thick and requires seasons to master. Where have we heard that before? A certain man on Monday Night Football had that on his resume; and only veteran QBs could master his offense. But what is complicated to some may not be so to others. And when is the last time you associated a gimmick/fast paced offense with Lovie Smith/Tony Dungy?
Rest Assure if two players on the Bucs should be overjoyed it should be Doug Martin and Mike James. Perhaps you can add Bobby Rainey in there too for a little Dunn to go with your Alstott? Always good to have those seasonings on your spice rack!!
So while we can speculate and ponder and wonder and guess the truth is Lovie Smith and Jeff Tedford are experienced veteran coaches; it's doubtful any Bucs fan reading this site or the other knows what plan these two coaches have in store for opening day on Dale Mabrey Highway in 2014.
