For Lovie Smith, it was every bit the homecoming we thought it would be. At One Bucs Place, the PressConference for Lovie was both emotional and educational as far as learning what will happen in the coming years with his new regime.
He didn't exactly say so, but at the same time he did, and everyone understood all the same ; Tampa Bay would get back to playing defense. Smith came straight out and said the Bucs would be playing in a one gap system, and Gerald McCoy would be playing the three technique like Warren Sapp of old. No more stunting for McCoy!
And for those worried about Darrelle Revis, fret not. Lovie has said the Bucs will not run entirely in a Tampa Two defense, and thus Revis will get to earn his 16 million a year by playing in man situations when it's called for.
He verbally praised will linebacker Lavonte David, and listening to him talk, you cant help but get excited and look forward to watching the defense up tow bat for the first time next year!
It wasn't all defense though, Smith had nice words for QB Mike Glennon. He likes his pocket presence, likes his size and the smart decisions he makes. Lovie went down the line and praised many on the Bucs staff, and answered questions from a virtual whose who of Tampa Media; Chip Carter, Steve Isbits from Joe Bucs fan, And reps from every major Bay Area outlet. In turn, each began their question with a "welcome home", and that's exactly what it was.
