Unlike last year when the Bucs made a big score in Free Agency by getting a top tier player that could win a few games himself (think about that…what would we have been WITHOUT Revis? 2-12?) this year the Bucs brought in two very good players at their positions on defense and picked up an offensive player to be the new QBs friend; Tight End!
How valuable was Tim Wright to Glennon last year? Brandon Myers is an upgrade. But you just knew Lovie Smith would make sure the Defense would be addressed…and in the right order: Up front first.
Im curious to see Michael Johnson in action next year. He didnt wow last year but this could be just the situation that is good for him. Clinton McDonald was brought in for when the Bucs go to a full on pass rush as the pass rushing Nose Tackle. Akeem Spence held his own well last year and Smith is giving people passes with PRE-Lovie regime problems.
Johnson is a RE…of this there is no doubt were told. So Clayborne and Bowers must fight it out from the left side and probably kills any chance of going after Jarred Allen.
With Castillias back the Bucs have linebacker pretty much solid. Maybe a draft pick here but Tampa Bay addressed Line and DBs with the intro of Alterraun Verner. Many see him as Revis' replacement but he's not that. He has his own pro bowl invitation on his resume (only Titan to go to the probowl) he's 25 and will wear No.21 while Johnson will be given number 90.
Myers will wear K2's old uni #82 and McDonold is donning 98.
Tomorrow is the Press Conference for Josh McCown and anyone else who signs in the meantime. Reports have these positions coming in to talk
