Two games have been found this month, one is already catalogued and in my possession, the other is on its way, and brings to 656 Tampa Bay Buccaneers game in the Bucstop.com Video Vault!
The game just added was the last remaining missing game from the Strike Shortened 1982 season. The Bucs were at New Orleans following a win on MNF over the Dolphins. They were 0-3 and after beating Miami, needed a win to keep up with the new playoff system that year that let almost 2/3 of all the teams into the playoffs!
In an era that predates Fantasy Football by decades, the Bucs won behind the grit of Doug Williams and Kicker Bill Capece, and the 13-10 Victory gave them a 2-3 record going on the road to New York to play the Jets.
History tells the story of the 82 Bucs, who lost at NY, and knew they needed to win every game to make the playoffs. Tampa Bay was Winning the next game home vs Buffalo but the Bills were inside the 20 and driving when Lee Roy Selmon stripped the ball and Bucs won. Then Furious comebacks over the Lions and Bears gave the Bucs a 5-4 record and a playoff game at Dallas.
Bucs played respectable in Dallas, and actually led at one point in the second half. Two questionable calls in the 4th qtr and turnovers doomed the Bucs, and we saw the last of Doug Wiliams in a Bucs uniform.
The 2nd game found is from the 1983 season, a week 3 Overtime Thriller home vs the Minnesota Vikings, on 4 DVDs.
