RAYS Will Have Money In Future For Stars

He cost us a lot of games, sometimes he would pitch his worst games in big ones. David Price is 0-4 in the playoffs.

But he was the Tampa Bay Rays Ace, and you shouldn’t have to lose your ACE for a bunch of nobodies and a 3rd pitcher. In the future, the Rays won’t have to.

MLB network reported the news and said the “Rays have a poor fan base”…thats far from the truth. Rays have an excellent fan base, they just watch TV instead of go to the games, and I have the best explanation as any I’ve ever heard.

WHY THE RAYS ATTENDANCE IS SO POOR-

Besides the fact that such a small % of  our population lives around the dome which is in contrast to other MLB teams, the main reason attendance stinks is simple.

What do you see at 8AM in the morning when you look at a traffic map? Congested freeways going from Pinellas County to Hillsborough County. Monday to Friday, every bridge. Howard Franklin, Courtney Campbell, SR 580, 275, it doesn’t matter, it goes one way, Pinellas to Hillsborough. Then at 5 PM they all come back.

ITS IN OUR DNA TO TRAVEL FROM PINELLAS COUNTY TO HILLSBOROUGH, not the other way around. People in Tampa do not come to St. Pete, its the other way around. Pinellas goes to Tampa for Bucs games, and has since 1976. Tampa Bay Rowdies game, since 1975. Tampa Yankees, you name it, the Lightning, its one way. (Don’t bring up the Lightning at ‘Thunderdome’, those were free tickets and 99.00 season tickets).

Its simply not in our nature to go from Tampa into Pinellas county , and I’m surprised Ive never heard this theory anywhere.

There is no lack of fan support, Rays fans simply watch the games on TV, and in record numbers. The Rays have a bad contract with their TV package, but that is going to change as the contract is up. TV numbers are tops in MLB, so some major money will be coming into the Rays coffers, and when the team moves to Hillsborough county, even more.

Then, the Rays should be able to keep the “Price” the same!
