Can Tampa Bay Buccaneers bounce back from terrible O Line play?

One of the question marks I said not to call a question mark was the offensive line. Players were chosen who played well in other spots, and were being  brought in together.

Well I also told you not to worry Josh Freeman was going to be fine last year. Serves you right for listening to me!!!

In short, the offensive line play was terrible, and everyone from JoeBucsFan.com to Pewter Report saw that and got on them on their respective worksites. Even Lovie Smith knew what was coming at the press conference, he jumped right into it knowing ” I’m going to get 30 questions about the O’line”.

So how can Bucs fans go to sleep at night without thinking the season is already doomed before it even starts?

1) That’s what preseason is for. You find out who can do what, if Lovie can see where mistakes were made, adjustments can be ordered. Will Cousins start again next week after getting beaten and manhandled. Different combinations may need to be tried to get the right mixture.

2)Players themselves will improve, once looking at film, working in tandem together, linemen will be coached on how to do their jobs better next time around.

3)Waiver Wire will provide some assets for GM and Coach to consider, as other teams will be letting go of talent they may be overfilled on at one position.

4)Remember, it was just preseason. No game plan was in place, no coaching, no scouting or preparation of any kind.   OC Jeff Tedford has an incredible amount of game film to go on now, and more to come.

Nothing is achieved by a coaching staff that tries its hardest to win the game. While it may not be pretty, the Bucs front office will take the game film and make the best out of the situation.

If the same game play is evident in 3rd preseason game like it was on Friday, the Bucs could be in for a rough ride in 2014.

The Bucs still have a month’s worth of practices and three preseason games to either work out the problems  or replace the poor pieces, something that may be a necessity.   Bucs general manager Jason Licht has said on more than a  few                                                                                            occasions that he plans to scour the waiver wire for possible upgrades, and he might have no other choice, because the Bucs’ backups didn’t do much better.
