Know one thing about the history of Pittsburgh Steelers vs Tampa Bay
Buccaneers football: There have been a lot of Steeler Sore Losers.
From Lee Flowers calling the Bucs “Paper Champions” after a Monday Night Football win of 10 points over our backup QBs after spotting Pittsburgh a 17-0 first quarter lead. The game finished 17-7, when Flowers ran his mouth. A month and a half later the Bucs WERE real Champions.
Now that Pittsburgh got beat by the Bucs, the team that deserved to win the game by turning the ball over the least, scoring off turnovers, and passing the ball at will against the Steelers once great defense.
Pittsburgh has called the loss the most Embarrassing, worse loss in Heinz field history. Doesn’t feel good to be on the other side of the of the pile on does it Steeler fans? They they don’t understand it they’ve been the lucky team in the history. It’s been that way for years, the season after the Bucs could have played the Steelers in the Super Bowl if not for a 9-0 loss to the LA Rams in the NFC Championship game, everyone was waiting for the Pittsburgh at Tampa Bay game in 1980. A blocked punt by Pittsburgh, a tipped pass for a TD to Lynn Swan by our linebacker, and Doug Williams spiking the ball mistakenly on 4th down, the Steelers escaped with a 24-21 win in Tampa Stadium.
In 1983 the winless Bucs almost left Three Rivers with the first win in Pittsburgh THEN! 7 turnovers by Pittsburgh but the Bucs only had a 12-0 lead, which wouldn’t last long. Bucs lost 17-12.
Of course no one could forget the hospitality we served the Steelers by giving them home field advantage in 2010 as there were more Black and Gold in Raymond James than red…or the time the kickoff temperature at 1PM game time was 39 Degrees F!!!
NFL BLACKOUTS THING OF THE PAST?? One day
The NFL now controls the Blackout rule exclusively as opposed to it being a government thing which it always was.
May people fail to realize the original blackout rules were designed to protect US, the viewers, because owners did not want to show ANY football home games, sold out or not, back in the 60s and 70s.
So much of the NFL’s revenue was based on salary income from ticket revenue. Now its all what the NFL makes from the TV contracts. So what can we expect to see?
Shrinking ticket prices at one point? Since gate revenue is not anything it used to be, the league may as well make upper deck seats affordable to show off its stadiums as full in areas where attendance is a problem
IS LOVIE A GLENNON GUY?
Lovie is going to go with the QB who gives him the best shot to win. The real question is will he draft one!
