The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Florida State Seminoles have a new common link after the 2015 NFL Draft took place. The two cities that sit around 300 miles apart in the state of Florida have ties to the No. 1 overall pick, Jameis Winston.
Winston won the 2014 BCS National Championship Game with Florida State as a freshman, along with taking home the most prestigious award in college football, the Heisman Trophy (and he was the second freshman ever to do so). In Winston’s sophomore campaign, he continued the Seminoles’ winning streak throughout the regular season, but lost to Oregon in the national semifinal of the first-ever College Football Playoff.
As touched upon, the Buccaneers selected Winston with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. After only two wins last season, the Bucs believe Winston will be the franchise quarterback the club is looking for to turn their fortunes around. Winston, unless unforeseen circumstances occur, will be starting for Tampa Bay in Week 1 of the NFL regular season.
With Winston’s departure from one city and his arrival in another, we take a look at the most and least expensive games for both the Seminoles and Buccaneers for their upcoming seasons. 11/15/2015 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Dallas Cowboys | Raymond James Stadium | Average Price: $277.71 | Get-in Price: $66
The most expensive Buccaneers tickets on the secondary market is when they face “America’s Team,” the Dallas Cowboys. Winston will have a few games under his belt when these two meet in mid-November, and he will be heads up against one of the game’s elite quarterbacks in Tony Romo. The Cowboys had a notable playoff run last season and will serve as a good measuring stick for the progress of Winston in mid-November.
11/1/2015 | Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Georgia Dome | Average Price: $128.40 | Get-in Price: $22
The least expensive game Winston is playing in is on the road at the Georgia Dome, but not against the Georgia Bulldogs. Winston and his Buccaneers will be facing Matt Ryan and the division rival Atlanta Falcons to kick off November. Considering Atlanta’s bad defense over the past couple of seasons, this could potentially be a breakout performance by Winston.
11/28/2015 | Florida Gators vs. Florida State Seminoles | Ben Hill Griffin Stadium | Average Price: $224.42 | Get-in Price: $100
Sometimes there isn’t a need for Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks and No. 1-ranked teams in the nation. One of the sport’s greatest in-state rivalries will take place in Gainesville when the Seminoles travel to the home of the Gators for their most expensive game in 2015.
11/21/2015 | Florida State Seminoles vs. Chattanooga Mocs | Doak Campbell Stadium | Average Price: $44 | Get-in Price: $9
Before their huge game against Florida, the Seminoles have a freebee against the Mocs at home. Seminoles fans can get into Doak Campbell Stadium for this glorified practice for less than $10 on the secondary market.
