Rickey Jackson is now officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That also means the Saints are represented for the first time. You can relive the original announcement by clicking HERE for my original story on Jackson getting elected. With 115 career sacks as a Saint, he’s by far and away the all time team leader. That’s a stat that no future Saint may ever catch up to. He also has a Super Bowl victory under his belt, from his one season joining the San Franciso 49ers. Congrats Rickey, you are one of the all time best Saints in history and you deserve it!
In other news, the black and gold scrimmage is set for 11am today. The team will take a look all healthy players in a full on live tackle scrimmage. Personally, I want to see how Stanley Arnoux manages almost more than anyone. I keep hearing how special he is, but his track record is an entire season on IR thanks to a torn Achilles tendon. At some point all this talk has to come to fruition, otherwise it’s just that: talk. I also look forward to seeing how PJ Hill and Chris Ivory fare, as they continue to battle through a chance to win the 4th running back roster spot. Finally, I’m really pulling for local product and former LSU Tiger Al Woods to have a good showing. He’s fighting for a roster spot and an opportunity to see the field more often, and this is a chance for him to establish himself as a capable young player.
The season is getting closer by the second!
