Saints Nation: Proof of How Meaningless Preseason Is

I’d like to commend the overwhelming majority of Saints fans after this first preseason game for staying positive and having few concerns overall. It’s nice that the whole “sky is falling” overdramatic freak out isn’t occurring like it usually does after one preseason game. These numbers should make you feel better:

2009 PRESEASON FACTS:

The AFC Champion Indianapolis Colts went 1-3 in preseason last year, including a loss to the Lions.

Speaking of the Detroit Lions, they went 3-1 in preseason last year, and only won 2 games out of 16 come the regular season.

The Arizona Cardinals went 0-4 and ended up winning their division and making the playoffs.

The Seattle Seahawks went 4-0, and finished the regular season 5-11.

Those are just a few I picked out, but there are countless examples of this. Point being, sure, there are some things worth paying attention to, but let’s take the preseason with a pretty big grain of salt because it has no bearing on the team’s outcome down the road.
