The Saints’s official twitter page has revealed the names of 7 players that have been added to the Saints’ practice squad. The following names have been added:
WR Montez Billings
G Brandon Carter
LB Harry Coleman
DT DeMario Pressley (pictured)
CB Reggie Jones
QB Sean Canfield
FB Matt Clapp
EDIT: TE Dustin Mitchell
All of these players were in Saints’ camp, except Clapp, who was an undrafted rookie free agent that was released at final cuts by the Detroit Lions. As far as I know teams are permitted to have 8 players on their practice squad, so I’m surprised to only read about 7 players being listed. It’s nice to see Pressley with the team because I think he’s a good player, but where the heck is Al Woods?? The Saints trade up to pick the guy in the 4th round and he’s not even good enough for the practice squad? That’s pretty deflating. How many contributing players could the Saints have gotten in that position?
EDIT: Jeff Duncan has revealed the final player via his twitter page that has made the practice squad. “TE Dustin Mitchell from La. Tech and Lutcher HS”.
