The Saints, as you all know, are 1-0 and currently in first place in the NFC South. With the Saints off today, here’s the matchups you can look for this Sunday:
Cleveland Browns @ Tampa Bay Buccanneers (1pm EST) (The Judge’s prediction: Cleveland 27, Tampa 17)
Atlanta Falcons @ Pittsburgh Steelers (1pm EST) (The Judge’s prediction: Atlanta 31, Pittsburgh 13)
Carolina Panthers @ New York Giants (1pm EST) (The Judge’s prediction: Carolina 17, NY Giants 20)
Since Atlanta and Tampa both play AFC opponents, the Saints would stay ahead of either team in the standings for now, even if they both won. While Carolina would be in a tie for first place with a win, they face the toughest matchup on the road against the Giants. The Falcons have a tough game at Pittsburgh, too, but the Steelers will be throwing out Dennis Dixon as their starter while Ben Roethlisberger is suspended. While Tampa appears to be the weakest NFC South team, they have by far the most winnable game today. Cleveland isn’t very good, and they receive them at home. Still, I’m predicting it’s just the Falcons that get a win today. Though because Atlanta represents the biggest threat to the Saints this season, I think we should all be Steelers fans. All three games could go either way, and it will be interesting to see how this first weekend of football plays out. Luckily, the Saints have the luxury of sitting pretty at 1-0 seeing things unfold as they don’t have to play today. Enjoy the games!
