While football season is quickly coming to a tragic end in the next couple of weekends, there’s a good amount of things to look forward to this Saturday and Sunday if you’re a Saints fan.
First, you’ll get a chance to look at some possible draft prospects on Saturday at 3pm CST on NFL Network as the Senior Bowl kicks off.
Notable players playing:
LSU Kicker Josh Jasper (pictured)
Alabama QB Greg McElroy
LSU Linebacker Kelvin Sheppard
Washington QB Jake Locker
Here are other players playing Saturday that the Saints are reportedly targeting:
Lee Smith, TE, Marshall
Phil Taylor, DL, Baylor
Chris Neild, DL, West Virginia
Ian Williams, DL, Notre Dame
Roy Helu Jr., RB, Nebraska
Christian Yount, LS, UCLA
Pay particular attention to Yount out of UCLA and how he does on long snaps because remember, Jason Kyle is a UFA this offseason and he ended the past season on IR. The Saints will be looking for a long snapper this offseason and it’s questionable whether they’d bring back a recently injured Kyle who is 38. You’ll also notice a number of D linemen on that list and that should hardly come as a surprise.
Come Sunday, the Pro Bowl will be aired at 6pm CST on Fox. Jahri Evans and Jonathan Vilma will start for the NFC, and Drew Brees, Carl Nicks and Roman Harper will all play as subs. While it would be nice to see our guys playing well in the Pro Bowl, the main thing we want to root for in this one as far as I’m concerned is that they get through the game without an injury.
