Saints Nation: Mickey Loomis Committed to Extending Drew Brees’ Contract

Mickey Loomis recently claimed in the press that he’s working towards extending Drew Brees, currently entering in the final year of his contract next season. Brees originally signed a 6 year $60 million deal to become a member of the Saints, and he’s schedule to make $7.4 million next season on the last remaining part of the contract.

Per Foxsports, Loomis said:

“It’s pretty clear that we’re going to want to have Drew under contract for the long term. I know that will happen at some point. He knows that will happen at some point.”

That’s got to be reassuring to most Saints fans, as if there was any question that Drew Brees was going anywhere. Both sides will be keeping a close eye on Peyton Manning’s new deal with the Indianapolis Colts that seems close to being finalized as I’m sure it will lay some groundwork for the market value that Brees is worth.
