Being in such an amazing sports town, arguably the best in the country, it always blows my mind how little support the New Orleans Hornets get. If you watched them beat the Houston Rockets last night in a game that featured a terrific comeback and a lot of hard nose playing, you probably share my frustration. I’d like to congratulate the Hornets, first of all, on making the playoffs for now the 5th time in their 9 seasons in New Orleans.
The Hornets play hard, play great defense, and they feature one of the best point guards of my generation with Chris Paul running the show. I know we’re a Saints town – believe me no one knows that better than me – but I see no reason why we can’t make the effort to support our local team when the NFL is both in the offseason and on lockout. The team is GOOD and they are headed to the playoffs. If we can put up with years of losing with the Saints, we should be able to tolerate a basketball team that wins.
So I urge you to get out there and support our boys. They’re about to go on a playoff run and I think we all know by now the power that a good fan base can give a team. We all already know and have seen what New Orleans is capable of as a sports town. If you’re looking for something to get behind while the NFL goes quiet this is an obvious choice. Geaux Hornets!!
