Saints Nation: Drew Brees Ranked 9th in NFL Network’s top 100 Players of 2011

Saints Nation: Drew Brees Ranked 9th in NFL Network's top 100 Players of 2011The final 10 players were finally named and Drew Brees came in 9th to finish this list of Top 100 NFL Players, according to the NFL Network. Personally, I thought coming in 9th was way too low. Here was the top 10:

1. Tom Brady, New England Patriots
2. Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts
3. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
4. Ray Lewis, Baltimore Ravens
5. Ed Reed, Baltimore Ravens
6. Troy Polamalu, Pittsburg Steelers
7.  Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
8. Darrelle Revis, New York Jets
9. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
10. Julius Peppers, Chicago Bears

Of this list, I feel like Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis are grandfathered in. They’re both still elite players, but I don’t think you can say either is better than Brees at this point in their careers. Brees is in his prime. As far as Peterson listed ahead of Brees: what a joke. I think Brees should be 5 or 6 realistically.

Brees joins these other Saints players who were already revealed on the top 100 players list:

Jahri Evans (34th), Jonathan Vilma (37th), Marques Colston (53rd), Carl Nicks (55th).
