Sean Payton announced at today’s press conference that the Saints have re-signed Scott Shanle, as well as Jo-Lonn Dunbar and Chris Reis. The St. Louis Rams were in hot pursuit of Shanle so the Saints did a good job of stepping up to retain him. I had no doubts it was going to take a lot to make him leave considering how committed Shanle is to the organization and his fans. Say what you will about Shanle, that guy is as loyal as they come. I’m psyched to have him back in black and gold, he’s a huge part of the culture they’ve built and he’s needed in the locker room. No one on the team leads more by example.
Shanle’s contract is two years in length.
The Saints have also signed rookie Johnny Patrick, but they lost Usama Young, who inked a deal with the Cleveland Browns.
