Saints Nation: 2011 Midseason Review, Thomas Morstead is Special Teams MVP

Saints Nation: 2011 Midseason Review, Thomas Morstead is Special Teams MVPThomas Morstead may be “just a punter”, but he’s been by far the most consistent Saint throughout the first 8 games of the season. He is my midseason special teams MVP. Below are the special teams GPAs for the first half of the season. Morstead’s GPA is not only best of this group, but it’s the best GPA of the entire team. This is actually, word for word, the exact same write up I had a midseason last year… Yeah, Morstead is pretty good. The only difference is last year Morstead’s GPA through 8 games was 3.29, so he’s been ever better this year. Morstead is third in the NFL in net punting average, 6th in gross average, and he leads the NFL in kickoff touchbacks.

Thomas Morstead 3.54 (8 games graded)
John Kasay 3.17 (8 games)
Leigh Torrence 3.13 (5 games)
Courtney Roby 3.00 (2 games)
Isa Abdul-Quddus 2.33 (3 games)
Jonathon Amaya 2.00 (3 games)
