The biggest surprise cut is backup interior lineman Matt Tennant. I expected Michael Higgins to make this team at tight end, so his release was a little disappointing as well. It was also disappointing to see Marquis Johnson, who had an excellent camp, and rookie receiver Nick Toon both end up on IR. Lastly, I want to commend John Kasay (pictured) as I did earlier today on twitter for having been a fantastic Saint last year. While keep Hartley was the obvious choice, that doesn’t take away from what was a better than expected fill in job from Kasay last season. I like this team and I’m looking forward to the Saints going into battle with them. And I look forward to adding Will Smith and maybe even Jonathan Vilma to this squad at some point this season!
