With the offseason upon us and just a handful of games left before the season ends, I thought it would be good to list a few dates to circle on the calendar as significant in the late winter, early spring and beyond. You'll remember the draft has been pushed back a month this year in an effort to spread out the NFL offseason and make it feel relevant each month. Here's what we have to look forward to:
Jan 25: Senior Bowl
Jan 26: Pro Bowl
Feb 2: Super Bowl
Feb 17: First day for clubs to designate franchise or transition tags (Jimmy Graham??)
Feb 19-25: NFL Combine
Mar 3: Deadline for franchise or transition tag designation by 4pm
Mar 8: Teams may start to negotiate with agents of Free Agents
Mar 11: Free Agency window begins at 4pm, all teams must be under the salary cap by then
Apr 21: Offseason workout program commences
May 2: Deadline for restricted free agents to sign offers sheets from other teams
May 7: Deadline for teams to match any restricted free agent offer sheets
May 8-10: NFL Draft
July 15: Deadline for Franchised player to sign a long term deal. After this date, he may only sign the 1 year tender.
