Yesterday was an off day for the team, so not much to report. I ran into Jonathan Goodwin on his way to getting a massage who said he felt really good about how he was playing, in addition to being completely healthy. The biggest news was that I saw Victor Butler walking around in a walking boot. Prior to that no news had come out on Butler of an injury, but clearly he’s dealing with something. Given that it’s a boot I’m assuming it’s an ankle/foot type issue and unrelated to his ACL tear last year, but I couldn’t really speculate. I also saw Jairus Byrd and he told me he’s feeling great and not worried one bit about his little procedure.
The players enjoyed some time off and enjoyed the various things the resort has to offer. Kenny Vaccaro and his family enjoyed the pool, Zach Strief walked around the resort to enjoy the sights, and Curtis Lofton seems to always be hanging out in the lobby. At dinner in the resort’s Italian restaurant “Forum”, I saw Champ Bailey with his wife and kid and Vinnie Sunseri at a separate table with his girlfriend. I was also told Drew Brees was in New Orleans for 24 hours via private jet to spend time with his family before coming right back.
I highly recommend a stay at the resort as a vacation for next year (the Saints are committed to 3 years here). The access to the players is incredible.
