Blogging with the Enemy – @PJDiaries of Purple Jesus Diaries

There are few NFL team focused spots blogs more hilarious than Purple Jesus Diaries. I actually look forward to playing the Vikings (other than the fact that we kind of own them) because of the back and forth I get to have each time with @PJDiaries. He’s a good dude and I recommend you follow him on twitter for any Vikings intel. Purple Jesus is Adrian Peterson, I’m pretty sure, so it’s kind of an appropriate nickname when you consider the fact that he’s not playing in this game for being very un-Jesuslike. Here’s the five questions I asked him, and you should go to their website too where you can see the questions he asked me. Enjoy:

The Saints Nation: Now that AP is definitely not playing, are you excited about fielding a roster full of players that don’t beat their kids for this game?

Purple Jesus Diaries: No. First, when your ownership group and franchise is so inept that they make a “child abuser” look like a sympathetic character in this whole scenario, you know your ownership sucks. Second, I just hate how “fans” (generally speaking) and media are so APPALLED that a guy who gets paid millions of dollars to physically abuse others and himself professionally ever week, who was raised in a family environment where harsh discipline was accepted, maybe does the same thing to his own kids. What, do we think that every football player is as boring as Peyton Manning? Greg Jennings? Do we think that’s the case with ANY sport? It’s just silly. It’s awful what Peterson did, he went way too far, but he’s not a devil person. I don’t get why people want to demonize him. And yeah, he’s a damn good football player, still. Even if he didn’t run for 100+ yards this week, he would have taken pressure off Noodle Arm Matt Cassel and let him manage the game. First week with Peterson?  170 yards and 2 touchdowns. Without? 202 yards, 1 touchdown, and 4 interceptions. Sure, the quality of the opponent was different, but YIKES.
SN: How sad does it make you that Brett Favre is still the best option at quarterback for the Vikings? More seriously, Bridgewater was pretty solid in preseason right? Are you dying for him to play soon?
PJD: It was actually Favre’s penis that was the best option for us. Bridgewater looks like he has very solid potential. He had a good preseason as you mentioned, and definitely has looked the part. I think the Vikings would ideally like him to sit this entire first year and have him compete next for the starting position, but with as much of a dumpster fire as our team has been this past week, our franchise may be forced into starting him to make people feel good pretty soon. Especially after the Saints blow Cassel out of the water this weekend. Either way, I’d like to see him, but I want him to succeed, not go all Ponder on us because he was rushed in too soon.
SN: If Gregg Williams is still the defensive coordinator of the Saints, which player on the Vikings would he be most likely to put a bounty on this time around (with Adrian Peterson out) if you can only name one?
PJD: Definitely Cordarrelle Patterson. He’s the only offensive player that’s worth a damn at this point. Frankly, even with Peterson around, he may have been competing for the best player on the team. He already had one highlight real touchdown run against the Rams in week one, and he most definitely attracts opposing teams’ defensive coordinators to scheme against him. Otherwise … I don’t know, Kyle Rudolph? And just take the bet that Cassel won’t be able to throw him the ball?
SN: Be honest, the Vikings still have Christian Ponder on the roster only to keep Samantha around town?
PJD: I wish. I haven’t seen her sweet ass around in quite some time. I would bet she doesn’t even bother coming back to town during football season. I’m assuming she’s still touring with College Gameday or something? SEC Network? I’m pretty sure they sold their house anyway, because everyone knows he’s gone at the end of this year. Why we didn’t try harder to trade him to the Rams, I don’t know.
SN: Any chance you guys don’t throw to the guy Patrick Robinson is covering every play? Please?
PJD: What, and worry about Matt Cassel connecting on a pass? I don’t think you’ll have to worry about it. Consider this game a locked win for the Saints.
