Saints Nation Grades 2014 Midseason Report Card

jane lynch

The Saints are 4-4 at the half way point and we’ve got 8 games of grades to go with now. Overall the grades are pretty good in some cases, but of course the offense is up compared to last year and the defense is way down.

As a general point of reference:

Above 3.00 is excellent

Above 2.70 is good

Above 2.50 is considered better than average

Below 2.40 is below average

Below 2.oo is poor

Below I’ve listed every player I’ve graded, through 8 games, from best to worst. To “qualify” you had to play a minimum of  4 “graded” games. Just so I’m clear, playing in 4 games doesn’t necessarily constitute 4 “graded” games, as I don’t grade every special teams kick coverer. My offensive player of the midseason is Mark Ingram, my defensive player of the midseason is Curtis Lofton and my special teams player of the midseason is Thomas Morstead. You might ask why I gave Lofton the defensive player nod over Hawthorne, but I decided his contribution in 8 games was more of an impact than Hawthorne’s in 5. Conversely, Ingram’s impact in 5 games meant more to the team than Graham’s in 8. My Saints’ MVP of the midseason is Ingram.

Mark Ingram 3.33 (5 games graded)
