Saints season is done, let’s see why

The regular season is officially over and Rob Ryan has at least survived the NFL’s version of ‘black Friday’. Other than that we as fans are left with one of only two options; begin planning for the draft and looking to next year, or look back at the year that was and try to sift through the rubble of our shattered dreams and expectations. Lucky for all of you I am going to do all of the latter for you, so you don’t have to. I have re-watched most of the Saints games over the last week and a half, and while I have never (nor will ever) professed to know everything about the game, I do believe I have some insights. What I plan to do over the next several weeks while I wait for this disaster of a season to fully end is to go over the Saints roster position by position. My intent will be to analyze it on three levels: first the year’s performance, second the how and why behind those performances, and third the position groups (and individual players) prospects going forward as I see them. During this process I will be reaching out to you guys on twitter each week for your opinions as well as any questions you would like me to attempt to answer (once again not an expert… but I can try). This season was hard on all of us, but I truly believe there is hope for this team into the future provided the right moves are made this off-season… which I will begin looking into about ten minutes after the SB ends.

My planned order (subject to change based on my own whims as well as feedback) for this is as follows:
1: QB/Offensive play caller
2: RB/ Offensive Line
3: Wide Receivers/ Tight Ends
4: Defensive Line
5: Secondary
6: Linebackers
7: Assistant coaches.

At least for the time being things will be ordered in degree to which they least irritate/enrage/disappoint me. I prefer to savor my vitriol and let it out in one enormous rant of rage…which is why I’m leaving the groups who deserve it most for last.
