Kicker Shayne Graham is back for another season with the Saints. He’ll be the favorite in camp going up against youngster Dustin Hopkins. I noticed some of you have complained about him coming back but I see it like this. Graham is as cheap as you’re going to get for a “good” kicker. And with cap woes the Saints can’t really spend on a kicker when they have so many needs elsewhere. For what you pay, Graham is a career 85.5% kicker and he made 86.4% of his field goals last year. He is unremarkably solid. I hope Hopkins beats him out, of course, because that means the Saints have a young and reliable leg. Even if he doesn’t though, the Saints might not have the best kicker in the league, but they have a pretty steady one. You can’t argue with the fact that he’s made 85.5% of his career kicks.
