Gone now is veteran guard Ben Grubbs who was a Pro Bowler for the Saints in 2013. Adam Schefter broke the news:
Chiefs traded this year’s 5th-round pick to Saints for two-time Pro Bowl guard Ben Grubbs, per league source.

The Saints were never keeping both guards and with Tim Lelito and Senio Kelemete on the team there are some options. Hopefully the Saints draft a really promising lineman early for added competition. I’m honestly surprised the Saints got a pick for Grubbs with his elevated salary. The move saves the Saints $3.6 million and returns them a 5th round draft pick as well. Much better than cutting him. I’m hoping this means Jahri Evans stays. This frees up money for what undoubtedly will be an investment in C. J. Spiller and Brandon Browner.
Grubbs was a decent replacement for Carl Nicks and a great guy. I wish him all the best.
