I’m sure most of you stumbled on this yesterday. Michael Bennett is standing by his comments that Jimmy Graham is “soft” and “overrated”. The quotes are the following:
“I still feel the same way. I mean, just because he’s on my team I don’t stop feeling that way.”
“Obviously, I’m going to be a better teammate to him because he’s on my team. I can’t do the things I was doing to him when we were playing him,” Bennett said. “When he comes to our team, he’s a part of our team. We have a different philosophy than they have with the Saints so the things that he was expected to do [with] the Saints are going to be different when he comes here. Obviously, we’re a running team, so he’s going to have to block and do all those things.”
Not exactly a hero’s welcome, right? It’s going to be interesting if Graham gets hurt, or doesn’t produce at the level we saw him produce in New Orleans. Or worse, if his blocking continues to be a liability, he may not play every down. And God forbid if the Seahawks struggle to match the success of the past two years, you wonder if the Seahawks could be quick to turn on him. Can you imagine if he starts dropping passes, dogs it, and gets taken out of games because he’s frustrated by not seeing the ball?
This is just me being exceedingly hopeful, but what if trading for Graham ends up a huge disaster for the Seahawks? Reading into this is beyond premature, but it’s already setting up nicely.
