“Rampage Roundup” is a new weekly feature at The Sunshine Skate to keep you in touch with your favorite future Panthers.
Summary:
The San Antonio Rampage are on a rampage! (There’s no way you didn’t see that coming.) The team’s record has improved to 10–6–0 following yesterday’s 4–3 shootout win over the Oklahoma City Barons. This makes it five straight victories for the Rampage and five straight wins over the Barons this season. In addition, the team came up with two wins over the Charlotte Checkers during the weekend, 2–1 in OT and 4–3, resulting in them now leading the West Division.
Impact players:
Logan Shaw scored his fourth goal of the season and second in as many games on the power play versus the Barons. Shaw also scored during the six round shootout, along with Garrett Wilson and Drew Shore. Shore has impressed this season so far, with 2 goals and 8 assists, while the team’s point leader Bobby Butler(8G, 9A) also notched a goal.
In goal, Dan Ellis made his 10th start and saved 31 of 34 shots faced. Ellis improved to a 0.904 SV% on the season.
Also, we can’t fail to mention Rocco Grimaldi, who was in the headlines following a busy day, becoming one of a few to participate in both AHL and NHL games in the same day. (Domenic Pittis and Milan Bartovič both played double headers for the Buffalo Sabres and then the Rochester Americans in March 1999 and April 2003, respectively.) Grimaldi was pulled before the third period and immediately flew to LA, where he suited up in place of an ill Aleksander Barkov. The Rampage’s fifth annual Cool School Day game, hosting over 10,000 kids with a 10:30AM start allowed Grimaldi enough time to play in the Panthers’ unfortunate 5 -2 loss to the Kings.
Upcoming games:
The Rampage next face the Texas Stars away on Friday, 11/21 and once again at home on Sunday. The formidable Stars have slipped to third in the West Division with a 6 – 4 – 4 record. Watch out for Travis Morin (7G, 13A), who has notched at least a point in all but three games this season.
