Yesterday, it was announced that Oleg Yevenko would be loaned to Team Belarus for their World Championship bid.
Bill Zito, General Manager of the Lake Erie Monsters had this to say about Yevenko being loaned:
“Oleg has had a very good first pro season, but right now is not a lock to play every night for Lake Erie so this is a good opportunity for him to represent his country at a high level, If we need him in Cleveland, we have the ability to recall him as the Calder Cup Playoffs progress.”
This really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone as Yevenko is a big bruiser and isn’t going to contribute too much offensively or defensively. He is much more of a place holder then anything else. His development should be interesting to monitor over the next couple of seasons, if he doesn’t develop an offensive game, he won’t have much of a future in the pro game.
