Who says that the off-season has to be boring? Today, the Columbus Blue Jackets announced that they re-signed Lukas Sedlak to a one year deal that will expire at the end of next season. The signing left some scratching their heads as the Blue Jackets are getting very close to the contract limit.

Having had a couple of below average regular seasons, Sedlak broke a couple of career best’s this year. Nearly doubling your previous goal total will turn some heads in any organization. His playoff play for the Monsters is where he is truly leaving his mark, falling just shy of being a point per game player. The head scratching part of the signing is the fact that the Jackets have two overage OHL players coming in next year in Justin Scott and Jordan Maletta. Where do they fall in the grand scheme? Could this be a precursor to some off-season NHL trades? The log jam in the AHL is a real issue going into next year, where are the pieces going to fall?
