The 33 year old centerback has been with RSL since 2008 and previously played for Odds BK in Norway and the Colorado Rapids. Over the seven years he spent in Utah, Borchers has scored ten goals and started 205 times. He’s exactly what the Timbers need: a solid veteran defender with MLS Cup experience.
A combination of Liam Ridgewell and Nat Borchers should help solidify a shaky 2013 backline. Plus, Portland loves a good beard. The question now is how does this change the Timbers’ expansion draft plans?
