Earthquakes Home Opener at Avaya Stadium The Most Expensive Ticket in MLS This Week

The 2015 MLS season is in full swing, as we approach an exciting third week with eight intense games scheduled from March 20th to March 22nd. FC Dallas has stormed out of the gates and resides atop the Western Conference (six points) with a nice 2-0 start. It’s far too early to crown them as the champs, but the hot start will surely have FC Dallas fans excited moving forward.

The 2-0 start has FC Dallas tickets returning solid value right away, as their March 20th battle with Philadelphia Union comes in as one this week’s best values ($33 on average and $9 to get in the door). That’s nothing compared to the most expensive game of the week, which comes in at $115.53 on average ($62 for the cheap seats) in a grueling showdown between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Chicago Fire. This will be the first regular season game at the newly minted Avaya Stadium, home of the Quakes.

The Chicago Fire come into their third match still seeking their first win of the young 2015 MLS season, as they have gotten off to a slow 0-2 start. San Jose, meanwhile, is just 1-1 (three points) and is at least for now in the playoffs if the regular season ended today.

The season is still way too young for the Fire to panic or for the Earthquakes to get comfortable, which makes this week’s most expensive game a great showdown for MLS fans to take in live at Avaya Stadium. If you’re looking to watch the action in person, Hipmunk.com is your resource for travel accomadations. Hipmunk has flights to and from San Jose connecting to most major cities, and can help you enjoy the city after the game, offering San Jose hotels from $74. The Fire will want to keep Chris Wondolowski away from the nets, as he scored two goals in his last match and has 16 multi-goal games in his career. On the flip-side, Chicago has yet to even register one goal on the year, so they’ll be hard-pressed to get their offense rolling.

History does appear to be on the Earthquakes’ side, as they took the only 2014 meeting between these two clubs in a decisive 5-1 victory at Buck Shaw Stadium. Dating back to 2010, neither of these teams have managed to take the other down on the road, which should make the Fire sever underdogs in this matchup.
