Last year was Indy Eleven’s inaugural season and they had a lot of success off the pitch by selling out all of their matches. On the pitch they didn’t reach their goals but this year they are hoping that changes.
Indy Eleven have added some new pieces to the team. In the defense the club has added NASL veteran and former San Antonio Scorpions defender Greg Janicki. Greg was very excited to join the club and had this to say, “I am excited to be back in the Midwest and to be playing in front of such an unbelievable fan base here in Indiana. The team finished strong last year and is not far from being a contender in this league. I’m excited for this new challenge and hope to help get Indy Eleven to that championship level.”
Last season Indy got Marco Franco on loan from the Chicago Fire and during the offseason they signed him on a permanent deal. In the midfield Indy has a world class player in Kleberson. Kleberson is currently 35 years old and the question that you have to ask yourself is how much does he have left in the tank. There is a lot of depth in the midfield with Don Smart, Victor Pineda, Brad Ring, Kleberson, Dylan Mares, Osman Melgares and Dragan Stojkov.
Last season Indy Eleven had Charlie Rugg on loan from the LA Galaxy and they signed him permanently. Charlie is a great addition because he brings something different to the attack. When Charlie joined the club last season each time he played the club was undefeated so they are hoping for that to happen this season.
Also the club signed forward Wojciech Wojcik who has played collegiate soccer at Bradley University. After college he signed with Ykkonen, a Finland second division side. They upgraded the forward players from last season. They let Mike Ambersley go and have replaced him with some quality forwards.
Going into their second season the team looks very strong. It is only up from here, maybe a championship, but you could guess that they are going to sell out each match this season as well.
