FANTASY MLS FOR XI: RECOVERING FROM THE MADNESS

2QBS

NYCFC injuries, red cards, and no-shows… oh my! Last week was madness; let’s hope this week calms down a bit. So, let’s pick up the pieces, figure out what we’ve got, and get you guys sorted out for Round 8 (DEADLINE: Friday, 8:00PM EASTERN):

‏@Vamos_DCU I have Hernandez, Ramos, Jorales, and villa want to use my wildcard. Who are must haves going forward

If you’re using your wildcard, definitely target New York Red Bulls and Colorado Rapids, as both will be on a double-game week soon. BWP, Sam, Felipe, and Harrington would be good places to start. Overall, Feilhaber, Castillo, and Rivero have been outstanding. If Martins, Dempsey, and Javier Morales can stay healthy, they’re worth the price as well.

‏@Fpl_Deadeye who is a good player to replace Villarreal, had enough of him not playing or getting me points

sadly, it’s hard to find a consistent midfielder for Villareal’s price. What I’ll be trying to do is to trade him up for Harrison Shipp. If you can’t afford that, Ulloa and Arnaud are cheap and have played every single minute, but they’re not world-beaters.

@BuckmanUnited my bench is a disaster, 4 transfers made and no subs if Hernandez is out, do I make the 5th Xfer?

If you can, wait for the lineups to come out on Friday, and then you’ll know for certain whether or not you have any subs. Either way, if you don’t have any subs but you can still field 11, I wouldn’t spend another -4 for what would be an insurance player.

‏@afpaulo_5 fantasy wise has Kaka been overrated?

Definitely not. He’s scored 44 points from 7 matches, and as long as he stays healthy, I can see him doing even more damage down the road.

‏@mrmonka thinking of dropping Keane for Giovinco. Seems like they are heading opposite ways.

I definitely agree with that assessment. Keane can’t stay healthy, and Gionvinco is carving up the Eastern Conference.

‏@Winner_MLS Who should I pick up as a replacement for Olave?
‏@ericwalcott #ForeverOrange people. Which defender do I want in FMLS? Can’t afford Horst.
‏@BuckmanUnited follow up question for next week: who do I trade for Olave?

Who to pick up: Either DaMarcus Beasley or a Red Bulls defender. Both will have upcoming DGWs — be cautious with New York, though, as Perrinelle is one yellow away from a suspension, and there’s no guarantee that Miazga retains his starting spot now that Zubar is healthy.

Who to drop: Vancouver’s Waston, if you still have him. He’s one card away from suspension.

‏@thelbach Felipe the real deal?

Definitely. He’s scored no less than four points in each of his five matches.

Best of luck, everyone. Let’s hope for an injury-free week!
