The Phillies trade Ben Francisco for a minor league pitcher

Today, the Philadelphia Phillies traded OF Ben Francisco to the Toronto Blue Jays for minor league relief pitcher Frank Gailey. Frank Gailey is a native of Philadelphia and went to West Chester University. Gailey, last season in the minors, went 5-6 between New Hampshire in the Eastern League and Dunedin in the Florida State League. In single-A Dunedin, Gailey went 4-2 with an ERA of 1.84. Next, in double-A New Hampshire, Gailey went 1-4 with an ERA of 5.70.


On the Blue Jays side, they get OF Ben Francisco. Last season, Francisco had a .244 batting average, with 6 HRs and 34 RBI. The thing that we will remember Ben Francisco for was his 3 run homerun in Game 3 of the NLDS this past season. Over his career, Francisco has a .260 batting average, with 45 HRs and 174 RBI. Francisco came over in 2009, when the Phillies traded with the Indians for Cliff Lee.
