Who would have thought that the Cincinnati Bengals led by Rookie QB Andy Dalton would be in the playoffs? Matter of fact, did you think the Houston Texans would make the playoffs this season? Well both teams made the playoffs and this is going to be a good matchup between two young rookie QBs.
The Bengals come into this wild card game, with a record of 9-7 and as the 6th seed. This young Bengals team is led by young QB Andy Dalton; Dalton threw for 3,398 passing yards, 20 tds, and 13 ints. Dalton has played in all 16 games this season and some of his touchdown passes went to Rookie WR A.J. Green. During the season, Green had 1,057 receiving yards on 65 receptions, to go along with seven touchdowns. The key for the Bengals has been their defense; the defense is 9th overall in opponents passing yards with 211.6 and 10th in opponents rushing yards with 104.7. So this is a very stout defense but will it stand against this Texans offense?
The Texans in this game bring their own Rookie QB TJ Yates. Yates, who came in for an injured Matt Schaub, has been playing well. Yates has thrown for 949 yards, 3 tds, and 3 ints. The Texans bring a formidable rushing attack in RBs Arian Foster and Ben Tate. Foster has 10 rushing tds and almost 1,300 rushing yards, while Tate has almost 1,000 rushing yards and four rushing tds. But will they have WR Andre Johnson, who’s been out for weeks due to an injured hamstring? The Texans defense has been great too; the Texans defense is 3rd in opponents passing yards and 4th in opponents rushing yards. So this game will be more of a defensive game.
The last time these two teams played was on December 11th. The final score in that game was Bengals 19 Texans 20. My prediction is that the 6th seeded Bengals will go down to Houston and beat the 3rd seeded Texans.
