Could you have asked for a better regular season opener, if you’re a Trailblazer or Sixer fan? No not really. If you are a Trailblazers fan, you are proud that your team shot the ball well last night, and as a Sixers fan, you are happy that your team came back but disappointed that they had a weak first half.

On Monday night, the Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Portland Trailblazers 107-103 in the regular season opener for both teams. This game was a tale of two halves. The Trailblazers shot the lights out from behind the 3 point line. The Trailblazers were 9 for 19 from behind the 3 point line, while the Sixers who shot better in the second half were 8 for 19 from behind the 3 point line.

As the 4th quarter hit, the Sixers came back and fought back through the hot shooting of Lou Williams and Andre Iguodala. Williams had 25 points off the bench and was 3 for 3 behind the 3 point line, while Andre Iguodala had 22 pts., 8 rebs, 3 asts, and 4 blks; had a chance to tie the game up with a 3pt just missed it over the stretched out arms of Trailblazers PF LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge had 25 pts., 7 rebs, 3 asts, 3 stls, and 3 blks. He was definitely the player of the game with the likes of Gerald Wallace who had 21 points of his own.

The Sixers will now play the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, and they have some things work on. First of all, they have to have a better shooting performance in the 1st quarter and finally they have to limit their turnovers. The Sixers had 20 turnovers and starting PG Jrue Holiday had 6 turnovers by himself; you cannot have that from your starting PG.

One good thing that came out of this game was C Spencer Hawes.  Hawes was one assist away from a triple double. Hawes ended the game with 10 pts., 14 rebs, and 9 asts. Hopefully we will see more of that from Hawes this season.
