Mercury Morris and the 1972 Dolphins can now pop open the champagne, because the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Green Bay Packers 19-14. This is the Packers first loss in 19 games dating back to last season.
Kansas City dominated this game and started by taking a 6-0 lead into the 3rd quarter on two Ryan Succop field goals. However, the Packers didn’t go quietly as QB Aaron Rodgers found WR Donald Driver for a two yard TD pass. Then, Kansas City added two more field goals from Ryan Succop to take a 12-7 lead. Finally, the backbreaker came when Chiefs RB Jackie Battle ran in for a one yard TD; thus, putting the Chiefs up 19-7 in the 4th quarter and eventually closing out the Pack and their quest for an undefeated season.
The player of the game was Chiefs QB Kyle Orton, who was 23 for 31, with 299 passing yards, and a QB rating of 104.1.
