Friday night, the 76ers offense was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
In the first half, the Sixers scored 51 points but in the second half could only manage 24 points. On defense in the first half, they had contained Mavs PF Dirk Nowitzki, but that all changed in the second half. Dirk carried the Mavs to the win and managed to put up 28 points and 12 rebounds.
For the Sixers, they got production out of their two young big men. Rookie PF Lavoy Allen had 8 points and 10 rebounds, while fellow Rookie C Nikola Vucevic was the leading scorer for the Sixers with 16 points. The sore spot for the Sixers was the starting backcourt of Jrue Holiday and Jodie Meeks. Jodie Meeks was 0 for 3 with 0 points and Jrue Holiday was 0 for 9 with 3 points. Holiday’s three points came from the free throw line.
The 76ers (20-11) will take their show on the road to the Target Center to take on Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love, and those young Minnesota Timberwolves (15-16) on Sunday night at 7:00 PM.
